Disney+ Needs a “Viewing Activity” History

One of the best things about Netflix compared to other services is their detailed Activity History. I scooped many months ago via Twitter that the phrase “Viewing Activity History” is present in Disney+ menu code, but it either pertains to something different or remains under construction as no such feature has launched.

Some people like this feature because it helps you “cover your tracks” if you watch embarrassing content. Since most people would have their own profile and the ability to lock your profile exists this is a relatively silly thing but nice to have… I guess?

There are three primary reasons this feature rocks:

  1. It’s cool to see what you’ve watched and when
  2. You can remove something that you accidentally clicked on
  3. You can remove something that you did not like so your viewership does not impact Netflix’s recommendations algorithm

Disney+ uses viewed titles for their recommendations as well. We shouldn’t be getting recommendations based off titles we hated!

Before Netflix added the “Remove from Continue Watching” feature their Viewing Activity section was a workaround to remove items. It is easily accessible under their account settings.

Since Disney+ does not have either feature, the Continue Watching section remains arguably the most complained about feature on Disney+. Disney+ not only has films and series getting stuck there after they’re completed, but have also set it so things randomly disappear over time which undermines our ability to use the service.

Hopefully soon Disney allows people the chance to make their own decisions about what is or isn’t in their Continue Watching and at the same time provides subscribers this trip down memory lane!
