UPDATE: Doogie Kameloha premieres September 8th.
On June 7th it was announced by Reel News Hawaii (but went unnoticed by other Disney news sites including us) that the Doogie Howser (1989) reboot Doogie Kamealoha had wrapped filming. The series, which stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee as your modern Doogie, is expected to premiere September or October on Disney+.
This 20th Television produced comedy takes place and was filmed in Hawaii, promising authentic views and casting native Hawaiians. It follows 16-year-old Lahela “Doogie” Kameāloha and her parents played by Jason Scott Lee and Kathleen Rose Perkins. Doogie will attempt to find her place as she balances a medical career along with all that comes from being both mixed-race and a teenage girl. (EiC Note: This is my most anticipated new series!)

It was reported in September 2020 by the official D23 website that a reboot of the classic Doogie Howser M.D. (1989 – 1993) series would be arriving on Disney+. The original show had a four season run and starred How I Met Your Mother (2005) star Neil Patrick Harris. The plot of the series surrounded a genius boy who graduated from the University of Princeton and used his degree to practice medicine at the age of 14. Unfortunately due to puzzling domestic strategy the original series is separated on Hulu. We suggest letting Disney (kindly) know how you feel about this decision at help.disneyplus.com/ give feedback.
