This year has seen all three Dr. Dolittle films that were streaming on Disney+ USA removed and head to HBO. We’re not remotely surprised as we’ve documented well Disney’s complete lack of control and access to 20th Century Fox’s library in the USA.
We’ve also covered ad nauseum the continued weird decisions to add titles from Fox that are pulled months later instead of just not adding them at all with Ramona & Beezus and Gulliver’s Travels being the 2 most recent offenders. Both were pulled roughly 1.5 months after getting added. As you can see from our Fox vs Disney Films Added in 2021 page, this year has been an embarrassment for Fox films on Disney+ and looks to keep getting worse. Dr. Dolittle 3 managed to stream from January 15th until August 31st. Disney continues to make these mistakes, and people will be shocked when The Fault in Our Stars (2014) returns in a few weeks only to leave again a few months later. We confirmed it would stream on HBO in 2022… you’ve been warned. Why Disney hasn’t hired us yet to manage this information for them and prevent these poor choices is anyone’s guess.

When Does Dr. Dolittle 3 Return?

When Can Disney+ Stream Other Dr. Dolittle Franchise Films?
Dr. Dolittle 1 (1998) and 2 (2001) left Disney+ February 28th, 2021 and will leave HBO May 31st, 2022.
Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts (2009) has never streamed on Disney+ USA but leaves HBO March 30th, 2022.
In addition to Dr. Dolittle 3, HBO added Doctor Dolittle (1967) today and it will stream until November 30th, 2022.
Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief (2008) remains MIA but is basically guaranteed to head to HBO now. Unfortunately the longer it takes to go to HBO the more time before the complete franchise will be available to Disney+.
This is enormously frustrating for fans of Doctor Dolittle in the USA. The franchise may finally stream on Disney+ in 2023. Meanwhile the entire franchise has been mostly available globally for a while.
